All smiles as Rohit Sharma brings up his maiden hundred as Test opener
All the questions, all the hype, all the speculations around Rohit Sharma as Test opener were looming once the Indian Test squad for the home series were announced. Rohit Sharma answered all the questions like he does in his role as white ball opener. We all saw the shear brilliance of a guy who has mastered how pace his innings in white ball replicate the same in red ball cricket.

India Captain Virat Kohli won the toss earlier and chose to bat first and all eyes were on the new opener Rohit Sharma. It was not a fluent start by any means as the ball did the talking in the initial period with some swing on offer thanks to the overcast conditions.
Rabada and Philander made good use of the conditions beating both the opener's outside the off stump on many occasions.

Rohit Sharma, playing his first match as opener followed his usual approach as he does in white ball cricket. He saw through the new ball and respected the conditions. As soon as India opener's saw through the initial period, runs started flowing. Rohit Sharma took on the South African spinners as he struck his maiden century as India opener. In his unbeaten knock of 115 he hit 12 fours and 5 sixes and didn't let the bowlers to settle in.
