India Vs New Zealand: The same old story

What will happen on the reserve day?

The semi final between India and New Zealand yesterday was interrupted in the 47th over due to rain. Yes rain! not a new thing since the world cup began right?

Even with overcast conditions and high intensity match New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson won the toss and opted to bat first. But the opening burst by Indian seamer's got them reeling for 27-1 in the first 10 overs recording the lowest powerplay score of the tournament courtesy of Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
Williamson and Taylor stitched a good partnership in the middle but couldn't push the peddle to accelerate. Not to take any credit away from Indian bowlers everyone chipped in with wicket each.

But the same old story of rain interrupting India-New Zealand clash, remember their league game was washed out due to rain. Thankfully the semi's and the final have reserve day. But the weather forecast on the reserve day doesn't look too good either, chances are it might affect the game again.

With New Zealand 211-5 after 46.1 overs and Ross Taylor still(67 of 85balls) at the crease New Zealand would want to get close to 250 mark.

If New Zealand doesn't bat again D/L might come in the equation which means loss of overs and India will have to chase the target as follows:

237 runs in 46 overs
223 runs in 40 overs
209 runs in 35 overs
192 runs in 30 overs
172 runs in 25 overs
148 runs in 20 overs

If the reserve day(Wednesday) is washed out due to rain India are through to the Finals on Sunday  due to higher position in the points table.
