Virat Kohli addressing the media ahead of the West Indies Tour

After Team India's shocking defeat in the semi final against New Zealand, a lot of rumors and buzz about team being parted with groups following Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma respectively.

It was essential that either one of them came out publicly and put the rumor to rest. That's what exactly happened, It was bound to happen and media raised the questions.
Virat Kohli sounds off before leaving for the Caribbean tour. Addressing the media today, Virat Kohli said, "I have heard a lot of things from the outside, If the atmosphere was not right then we would not have been able to come on top of ODI."
"In my opinion it's baffling to be honest. It's absolutely ridiculous to read such stuff that comes out. I have been to a few public events and the sentiment is "aap log kya khele (you guys played so well).

"We are feeding off lies. We are overlooking facts. We are turning a blind eye to all the good things that has happened. We are creating fantasies and scenarios in our head and want to accept that this is the truth," Kohli said while addressing the pre-tour media conference here ahead of the West Indies tour.
"I have seen this for too long now. Bringing personal lives into the picture. It's disrespectful after a moment. There is nothing between me and Rohit," Kohli said.
Meanwhile Little Master Sunil Gavaskar questions Virat Kohli's Captaincy, also the way Selectors and BCCI officials are handling the situation.

Clearly Gavaskar wanted Virat Kohli's Captaincy report to be assessed, his decisions, selections, tactics should've been under the scanner. Undeniably Selectors missed the protocol of first reviewing Captains Performance's and re-appointing him again at the position.
"That they selected the team for West Indies without first having a meeting to select the captain brings up the question of whether Virat Kohli is the captain of the team at his or the selection committee's pleasure,” said Gavaskar.
“To the best of our knowledge his (Kohli’s) appointment was till the World Cup. After that, it was incumbent on the selectors to meet even if it was for five minutes for his reappointment".
“Speaking of lame ducks, the Indian selection committee appears to be one. After the reappointment, he (captain) gets invited to the meeting for his views on the selecting the players for the team. By bypassing the procedure, the message that goes out is that while the players like Kedar Jadhav, Dinesh Karthik get dropped after below expectations performance, the captain continues despite much below par expectations where the team did not even reach the finals.”

After Team India's shocking exit from World Cup semi final, many experts criticized Virat Kohli's Captaincy. Questions were also raised on decision-making, team selection, batting order. According to experts an experienced campaigner like MS Dhoni walking in at no.7 in a World Cup Semi Final made no sense.

The talk of split captaincy also aired after the tournament considering Kohli not being able to win major titles for the team under his captaincy. Team India have not won a Major tournament since 2013 under Virat Kohli's Captaincy. What also goes against him is the fact that Kohli is also yet to win an IPL trophy, on the contrary his deputy Rohit Sharma has excelled far above with record 4 IPL titles as Captain.

Quite clearly Virat Kohli's Captaincy is under the pump at the moment.
