Both the individuals are irreplaceable in the Indian line-up. Indian Cricket Team and their Batting revolves around these two.
With rumors of rift between the two Batting giants, fans and cricket fraternity are concerned if the team could gel along well. But is it really that big a concern?
Well not so, looking at the numbers they have put on since 2015 and the kind of dominance they had on the game those numbers are absolutely staggering.
The number one ranked batsman Virat Kohli vs the number two ranked batsman Rohit Sharma is quite fascinating to watch. As far as the performances are concerned if there's a battle for supremacy between the two it's going to end up benefiting the Indian Cricket Team itself for sure.
One of the greatest pair of batsman in the current generation, Kohli-Rohit has been a delight to watch as they keep going about their business at remarkable consistency. Both have been in supreme form ever since India's semi-final exit at the 2015 World Cup and has ruled the run-scoring charts and find themselves at the top of the pile on the ICC rankings. Both the batsman are just 6 points apart in the rankings.
In fact the rivalry between the two has brought out the best between both the players and its pretty evident from the way Indian Cricket Team has performed from 2015. Both of them have immense respect and admiration for each other and always strive for team's success and improvement.
Rohit Sharma since 2015: He has amassed 4906 runs with 50+ average every year and mind boggling 22 hundreds during this span.
Virat Kohli since 2015: He has scored whopping 5078 runs with 50+ average from 2016-2019 with 20 hundreds during this span.
Looking at the numbers there's very little to choose between the two of them. certainly their rivalry if it exists, has pushed them beyond in terms of putting up performances to win matches for the team.
As a cricket fan the rift rumors between Virat and Rohit is not a big issue as they seem to convert those big numbers when they bat. There hasn't been any clear statement about the ongoing rumor and recently Indian team Bowling coach Bharat Arun responded 'They(Virat-Rohit) get along well. It has to be seen to be believed. Rohit often runs up to Kohli to discuss things. They get along very well, share a great admiration for each other’s ability. Kohli led the side well, is maturing as a captain and it’s nice that he has Rohit for support. The spirit in the camp was wonderful throughout'.
Rohit Sharma ended the World Cup with the leading run scorer of the tournament, After his heroics in the World Cup he will look to carry his form through in all the formats and make the team as the most dominant force in World Cricket.
While Virat Kohli will look to continue the ability to score consistently and handle the Captaincy role far better than he usually does. He will look to improve on Captaincy front for sure. Team India will be travelling to West Indies for a full Tour starting from 3rd August.
