India tour of West Indies: India seal the ODI series

Port of Spain: Virat Kohli's series clinching hundred and Shreyas Iyer's fifty saw West Indies losing the ODI series after the T20I's. Chris Gayle with his possible last International match for West Indies went berserk with 41 ball 72.

Team India won the ODI series 2-0 


With rain affected game, it came down to 35 overs each side before a dream start for West Indies with 110 after the first 10 overs. Chris Gayle(72 of 41balls) and Evin Lewis(43 of 29balls) started of with a flyer. 

West Indies scored 240 runs in 35 overs, India were set a target of 255 in their 35 overs according to the DLS method. Coming out to bat when India started of pretty well but in the process lost opener Rohit Sharma (10), Kohli raised his 43rd ODI hundred and crossed 20,000 runs mark in international cricket. He was well supported by Shreyas Iyer with a brisk 65 of just 41 balls.

When he was dismissed, India needed 43 more runs from 40 balls but Kedar Jadhav (19*) ensured there was no twist in the tale. He raised an unbeaten 44-run stand for the sixth wicket with Virat Kohli.
Team India chased down the score in the 33rd over with 6 wickets in the bank and clinch the ODI series 2-0. This was also India's 9th consecutive ODI series victory over West Indies.

Soon after Gayle's blistering knock ended Indian players congratulated him suggesting this may have been his last outing for the West Indies.
A 20 year old International career Chris Gayle has entertained most of the cricket fans all over the globe. The self proclaimed 'Universe Boss' also went on to become the leading run scorer for West Indies in ODI cricket in this series leaving behind the former West Indian legend Brian Lara.

 Team India will be playing a 2 match test series against the West Indies starting from 22 August. It will also be the start of the Test Championship campaign for both the sides.
