Mumbai: After Mushfiqur Rahim's star performance for Bangladesh as he scored an unbeaten fifty to chase down India’s total in the penultimate over to give Bangladesh a historic victory in the 1st T20I. Team India will be looking to clear the odds and square the series at Rajkot.
India managed a par score of 148 runs on a sluggish wicket at Delhi. However, Pandya dropped a crucial catch during an important stage of the match which cost India the match. But team India will be closely having an eye on the following things in the remaining games.
1. Shikhar Dhawan's struggle at the top:
Shikhar Dhawan top-scored for India in their first ever loss against Bangladesh in the series opener in Delhi on Sunday.
But more than the runs he scored, what was noticeable about his
42-ball 41 was the strike rate and the number of deliveries he consumed without
scoring a run.
Not only does
Dhawan not make use of the fielding restrictions thereby not giving India a
push at the start but by doing so also puts a lot of pressure on the other
opener and the batsmen to follow to up the ante.
Former Indian Great Sunil Gavaskar stated that people will start
to talk if Dhawan is unable to get back to his best in the next two matches
against Bangladesh.
“Questions will be raised on Shikhar Dhawan if he doesn’t bat well
in the next 2 matches. The team is not going to benefit if you’re scoring 40-45
runs from the same number of balls. He will have to think about this. When
players come back after the gap, it does take a lot of time to get back the
rhythm,”Gavaskar told Sports Tak.

2. Rishabh Pant's confused patch:
Pant heads into the T20I series
on the back of an array of ordinary performances for the senior national team.
He also lost his spot to a fit-again Wriddhiman Saha in the Test side in the
recently-concluded South Africa series.
Pant has been struggling for
consistency across all formats. His average in T20Is reads 20.31 and his
performances in the shortest format of the game in 2019 have been far from
impressive. In 10 matches in the year, Pant has scored a fifty-plus score only
once and has gotten out on single-digit scores 6 times.
With Sanju Samson at bay it
will be pressure game for Pant to perform or make way for Samson.
3. Death Bowling:
With the absense of Jasprit
Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar Indian death bowling looked pretty ordinary
against Bangladesh and even against South Africa.
Khaleel Ahmed who was
bestowed upon the responsibility of death overs went for 37 runs in his four in
a low scoring match, of which 18 runs came in the penultimate over of the
match.
Rahul Chahar was the other
seamer in the team but didn't even bowl at the back end. Clearly the
replacements of Bumrah, Bhuvi, Shami is taking a toll on the team.
The 2nd T20I between India
and Bangladesh will be played at Rajkot on 7 November.
