Deepak Chahar's Hat-trick saw India clinch the series | India vs Bangladesh

Nagpur: Deepak Chahar on Sunday became the first Indian male bowler to claim a hat-trick in the T20I's as the team clinch 30 run win in the 3rd T20I against Bangladesh in Nagpur.

Chasing 175 Bangladesh team saw some heroics from Deepak Chahar as they fell short by 30 runs eventually.
Batting first team India lost their openers cheaply when the young guns Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul with knocks of 62 and 52 respectively allowed India to post a challenging total of 174.

Defending 174 at the VCA Stadium, Indian bowlers were struggling after Chahar had given Bangladesh two early jolts in the third over of the innings. Having lost Liton Das and Soumya Sarkar cheaply, the tourists were revived thanks to a blazing half-century from Mohammad Naim who combined with Mohammad Mithun for third-wicket partnership that took them to 110/2 in 12.5 overs. The players were looking lethargic in the field.

That's when the Captain had some pep talk, Rohit recalled the players, "I just reminded them this (pointing towards the badge on the jersey) is what we are playing for. I can understand when wickets are not falling, it’s hard to pick ourselves up. I just had to remind what team they’re playing for, credit to the bowlers,” he said at the post-match presentation ceremony.

The newest member in the team had a decent outing as he picked up 3 for 30 in his 4 overs. Shivam Dube cleaned up Mushfiqur Rahim for a first-ball duck and Bangladesh were suddenly 110/4. The scenario changed completely when Dube also got rid of Naim on 81 in the 16th over.

Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul turned the heat on at Nagpur:

Just when things looked a little dicey, Shikhar Dhawan was dismissed by the slower ball of Shafiul Islam. Then came the beautiful partnership from the young guns Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul, which made Bangladesh fielders chasing the leather more often than not.

Though KL Rahul walked back soon after scoring a fifty, after a long time it looked like KL is on the verge of leaving his rough patch behind, Shreyas Iyer smashed the bowlers to put fans on edge of their seats. Iyer, who escaped being out on duck, took the chance with both hands to find the boundary fence more often than not.

Deepak Chahar with a night to remember:

Only the 12th bowler in history to claim a hat-trick in T20Is and the first Indian to do so. Chahar was used by Rohit Sharma at every crucial junction of the game eventually bringing out the best in him.

He returned into the attack in the last over, and dismissed Aminum Islam and Mustafizur Rahman in two consecutive deliveries to complete his hat-trick. This was the best-ever figures in the format – 6/7, surpassing the previous one set by Ajantha Mendis (6/8) of Sri Lanka.
