Rohit Sharma stars in a Thrilling Super Over | IND v NZ

Hamilton: What a thriller it was at Hamilton? The incredible knock and Super Over heroics from Rohit Sharma took India home, the top knock by Kane Williamson. The incredible final over from Mohammed Shami and the brilliant hitting by Rohit Sharma, in the end, helped India seal their first-ever T20I series in New Zealand.


With 9 runs to defend in the final over, Shami forced a tie even after conceding a six on the first ball of the innings. Shami eventually dismissed Williamson, and secured two dot balls against Tim Seifert, before dismissing Ross Taylor on the final delivery of the innings.

In the Super Over the Kiwi's couldn't break their jinx, New Zealand scored 17 runs, with Williamson top-scoring once again for the side. Jasprit Bumrah had a bad day with the bowl as he conceded a six and a four off two successive deliveries to Williamson, before being hit for a four by Martin Guptill on the final delivery of the Super Over.
Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul came out to bat for India, and the Indian vice-captain was the star of the Super Over. After a considerably poor start where India could score only 8 runs off the first four balls, Rohit slammed two sixes off the final two deliveries hand India an incredible win at Hamilton.
In the process Rohit attained a staggering record under his belt by becoming only the fourth Indian opener with 10,000-plus runs in International cricket at the top of the batting order.


Since escalating his value to several levels higher after being promoted as an opener in 2013, Rohit now joined the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag and Sunil Gavaskar in an elite list.
Rohit also slammed his joint-second fastest fifty in the shortest format.

Rohit was in his element as he slammed Bennett for 27 runs in the pacer's second over and the sixth over of the Indian innings. With his cuts, pulls and flicks moving out right from the middle of the willow, the fans got to witness the Hitman playing at his absolute best once again.
Earlier New Zealand cricket team captain, Kane Williamson won the toss and asked India cricket team to bat first at Seddon Park, Hamilton today. Indian openers started off auspiciously with 80 odd in the first 8 overs, but lost momentum once the opener's were dismissed, Rohit Sharma top scored with 65 off 40 balls for India.
Chasing a stiff target of 180 Kane Williamson was the lone warrior for the team in the middle, who kept the Indian bowlers on their toes smashing his career high score of 95.
Now, both teams will travel to Wellington for the 4th T20I of the series.
