Prime time for India to believe in Rohit Sharma as a test match batsman. The management needs to put faith in him to be the impeccable pillar of Indian batting alongside the skipper Virat Kohli.
Traditionally Indian batting over the years has struggled on an overseas tour be it with the conditions or situations. In the last couple of years apart from Virat Kohli no other batsman have looked promising of scoring big runs. India will be touring West Indies in the August. And the batting vows still persist.
Now, with India's strategy of playing five specialist batsmen clearly not working, Rohit has a golden opportunity on his hands. The no. 6 spot in the Indian Test team is still up for grabs. With Rohit Sharma in an incredible form in the World Cup scoring almost 650 runs in 9 matches have made his selelctions doors wide open. Not just the runs he is scoring its the patience and temperament which is quite impressive in last couple of years, which was missing in his initial career.
Something that a Test batsman needs to have during crunch sessions. Currently Rohit Sharma in white ball cricket is the best in the world. Now that he his emerged as a more matured version of himself its time for Rohit Sharma to be the Big Thing in test cricket as well. The team management needs to hang him a longer rope with his ability to turn around matches, he is that sort of a player who can win you matches on his own.
Here are some stats of Indian batsman since November 2017-2019
The chart has been topped by Captain Virat Kohli, but having played the least number of matches Rohit Sharma is second best behind the skipper in terms of average in test cricket from last 2 years. He averages close to 50 even at the no.6 spot, no other batsman in the current Indian lineup provides more stability to the batting other than Rohit and Virat.
