ICC World Test Championship

The inaugural edition of ICC World Test Championship will start from the first Ashes Test between Australia and England starting from 1st August.

Team India: Current number 1 Test team

Since Test Cricket in the last decade have lost the hype and interest from world cricket with teams playing in favorable home conditions and dead rubber matches couldn't build high competitiveness. Now since every test match played will have points associated for winning or losing, ICC hope to revive Test Cricket.
Also from Ashes series you will see players donning outfits with jersey number and names.

To built some interest in test cricket The top 9 International teams will play six test series(3 home series and 3 away series) in this duration from 2019-2021. Afghanistan and Ireland are the latest test playing nations and wont be a part of this championship, with Zimbabwe recently being suspended by the ICC are not a part of this.
120 points are allotted to every bilateral test series irrespective of the number of test matches being played in the series.

The top two teams with the most points will have to face each other at Lord's, England in June 2021. And a winner will be decided for the Test Championship. In the scenario of a tie just like in the World Cup Final, the team that topped the points table during this cycle of 2 years will be concluded as the winner.
