Wankhede, Mumbai: The trio of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Kl Rahul put on big hitting shows at Mumbai on Wednesday as they won the T20I decider with comprehensive margin.
India were put in to bat in the crunch series decider as West Indies wanted to make use of the concerns surrounding India's poor record while batting first and putting runs on the board in T20I's in recent times.
However, Opener's Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul came all guns blazing against Kieron Pollard's men. The two openers hit sixes and boundaries at will as India reached 72 for 0 at the end of the powerplay overs.
Both the openers missed their respective hundreds but made sure India were in a commanding position by the end of their innings. Rohit Sharma(71) and Kl Rahul(91) put on a 135 run stand for the opening wicket.
Indian opener Rohit Sharma on Wednesday added yet another feather in his sensational career as he became the fastest batsman across the world to smash 400 international sixes. Rohit achieved the feat in his 354th international match across formats, Gayle reached the milestone figure in 414 matches across all formats, Afridi took 446 games to achieve the feat.
Coming into bat after the quick wickets of Rohit Sharma and Pant, Virat Kohli dominated the West Indies bowling attack. Kohli smashed his career fastest fifty in T20I's, 70 in just 29 balls and remained unbeaten as India finished with a daunting total of 240 for 3 in 20 overs.
With quick wickets West Indies looked out of the game in the second half, as they fell short by 67 runs, with a gutsy effort from the skipper Kieron Pollard who smashed 68 off just 39 balls.
Both teams will move on to the ODI series starting from 15th December in Chennai.
